In recent years we have seen many changes made in the effort to Go Green. We have had the introduction of the electric car, new building codes, increased solar power, high efficiency appliances, as well as the increased production of the hybrid. There have been increased programs designed to recycle, such as ASL green spots where consumers are provided with a place to drop off their old electronic equipment. This creates an alternative to electronic equipment being left at landfills to pollute our ground soil. Many of our moving customers already contribute to the effort of ASL and the green spots by allowing their business location to double as a green spot for consumers. For example, there are 19 Mover green spots throughout California and the number is rising. Here at Paul Hanson Partners we have also taken many steps towards Going Green.
Starting roughly five years ago, Paul Hanson Partners became paperless, preserving the environment, while saving ample amounts of time in the process. We view every document through a computer system. Our faxes come in through the systems server and are delivered to a folder within the computer specified to each employee. Emails are attached into each individual account for future reference. If we do receive the occasional paper document it is scanned into the system and the paper is shredded for recycling.
For our retail customers, our paper-saving Inscope program is a self-service program that allows customers 24/7/365 access to insurance information. This program allows viewers to verify coverage, access claim status, billing information, the ability to issue auto identification cards, and request certificates of insurance. If you would like to get started please contact us and we will walk you through the steps to obtain a User ID and password.
In our underwriting division, once an insurance policy is put into place we send our insureds an in depth binder outlining their policy. Recently we have taken this one step further. Insureds will receive all of their policy information on a CD. They can download this CD onto their computer or they can simply insert the CD at their leisure to pull up answers to any questions they come across.
Our accounting department has made arrangements with our bank to receive and send payments electronically. This step is a completely safe transaction which eliminates the use of paper and saves time. Our insureds, insurance brokers, and insurance companies can receive their payments directly which cuts out the paper work and mailing time completely. If you are interested in transacting business with our office electronically, please contact our accounting department manager, Dawn Johnson at dawnj@paulhanson.com .
An amazing statistic is that approximately 14% of landfill space is taken up by newspapers alone and over 1/3 of landfill space is taken up by some type of paper material. We hope to make a difference with our steps towards Going Green. Please take advantage of the programs we have in place. If you have any questions or have further ideas for our company to continue our going green efforts, please do not hesitate to contact me @ coryt@paulhanson.com .
